Warwick Castle is a fantastic family atttraction and with a range of accommodation, you can turn it into a great UK mini break. Alongside the woodland lodges and glamping options, the brand new Warwick Castle Hotel has just opened (July 2024).
Set in the wider grounds of Warwick Castle, the hotel has a medieval theme giving it that extra excitement for kids. Step back in time from the moment you enter the hotel lobby. We loved the animatronic knight on horseback. There’s a buried sword that when you pull it up it sets the horse moving. As you can imagine, my son did this multiples times!
Surrounding the walls of the hotel lobby are digital pictures which move and speak, very much like the ones in the Harry Potter books.
The medieval theme runs through to the rooms too. We had a family room fit for a knight with king sized bed and a set of bunk beds that could fit three (there’s a pull out trundle bed at the bottom).
The ensuite facilities have a bath, shower and toilet with fluffy white towels. It’s all brand new so everything was in tip top quality condition. All the little extras are there too with tea & coffee making facilities, toiletries, iron, hairdyer and TV. The restaurnt only serves breakfast and dinner so there isn’t a cafe area as such that you could go to outwith these times.
It was a goregous summer’s day when we visited so after a great day out exploring Warwick Castle and then checking in, we ambled down to the River Avon and hung out on the banks there. Lovely spot for a sundowner. They had evening entertainment when we visited which was great to keep the kids busy and me the chance to sit down.
Dinner worked incredibly well for my fussy eaters. It’s situated a very short walk along a wooden boardwalk next to the Warwick Castle Hotel.
Set up with a medieval banqueting ambience, they had a great carvery which meant my kids could choose exactly what they wanted including lots of Yorkshire puddings. The food is freshly cooked and there’s a help yourself salad bar too as well as add on options for pudding. You definitely won’t go hungry.
A complimentary cooked or continental breakfast is also served here in the mornings.
We really enjoyed our short break at Warwick Castle Hotel, the medieval theme and evening entertainment felt so much more than a regular hotel. The hotel, glamping and woodland lodge can be booked with one day and special priced 2nd day Warwick Castle entry.
