Tips for travelling with a Baby and Toddler

We are approaching holiday season and some of you may be venturing abroad with little ones.  On paper it sounds stressful travelling with young children and you may question whether it is worth it. From personal experience it most definitely is worth it with some handy hacks and super organisation skills!

Whether you are having a staycation or hopping on a flight, there’s no denying that you will need a lot of stuff!

  • You can use travel vacuum bags to create space and organsiation in your suitcase!
  • Click and collect airside is a great option for formula and nappies. These can then be carried onto the plane avoiding having to take through security and use up luggage space.
  • Travel sterilser bags are a great option, especially if there are minimal kitchen facilities
  •  Remember you can use the family assistance lane when going through the airport, which provides additional support for travelers with young children or special needs, offering amenities like priority security checks and comfortable airport seating for a smoother journey.
  • A change of clothes for you and your little one for the journey is a good idea
  • Offer a dummy or a feed to help with little ears during a flight – we also had lollipops as a special treat too.
  • Often you can hire travel cots and car seats at your destination. We’ve actually got 2x travel cots in our bedroom as this is what the little ones are used to at home.

The great thing about babies is they are very portable as well as contained! And in theory they will nap during a flight and in the pushchair during your trip. My point is, don’t let it put you off going away if you are considering it…they might just surprise you!

The routine will be the same (with a few slight adjustments) but it’s the same just a different location.
