A new Head of Prep for Headington Rye Oxford Prep School has been announced.
Mr Bertrand Leullier, currently Senior Deputy Head at South Oxfordshire co-educational prep school St Hugh’s, will take on the role in September 2025.
Mr Leullier, a dual French-British national, brings over 16 years of experience in preparatory education and a strong background in business leadership and was selected from an exceptional field of candidates following a comprehensive application process.
Headington Rye Oxford Headmistress Caroline Jordan said: “Throughout the application process, Bertrand stood out, making an excellent impression on governors, staff and pupils alike.
“He will be taking over from our fantastic Head of Prep of 11 years, Jane Crouch, who has had an enormously positive impact on the School and provided calm, steady and confident leadership during a time of immense change.
“She leaves our Prep School in a strong position for the future, filled with potential for continued growth and development.
“We are confident that Bertrand’s wealth of leadership expertise, understanding of our school and dedication to fostering a warm, inclusive and supportive environment, will continue this upward trajectory. Our goal, working together with Bertrand, is to ensure that every child can thrive academically and develop the resilience and self-belief needed for future success.”
A language specialist, Mr Leullier spent his 16 years in teaching at St Hugh’s, starting out as a teacher of French before taking on increasing roles of responsibility, including serving as interim head during the 2022-23 academic year.
Mr Leullier said: “I am deeply honoured and overjoyed to have been offered the position of Head of Headington Rye Oxford Prep School.”
“Throughout the recruitment process, I was increasingly impressed with the School’s character, values, and ambitions, which align so closely with my own. I very much enjoyed meeting staff and pupils, all of whom made me feel incredibly welcome. I am very excited to be joining the School later this year and look forward to building strong relationships within the Headington Rye Oxford Prep community.”
Headington Rye Oxford was created following the merger of neighbouring Headington School and Rye St Antony in 2024, forming a prep day school for girls and boys aged 3-11 and a senior day and boarding school for girls aged 11-18.
