One of my mum’s friends suggested meeting at Jenni’s House. I have to be honest and my reply initially was.. who’s Jenni? I was soon shown the website and discovered that Jenni’s House is an incredible place set up by Jenni in what used to be a Chinese restaurant.
Jenni describes this place as “the village” that helps and supports you to raise your little ones. With everything from a playgroup, a lovely cafe and a seperate room which hosts some amazing baby and toddler classes. Jenni’s house seems to have it all. I went down with friends to try out their cafe and their playgroup- I recommend you to book in advance!
The attention to detail at Jenni’s House is second to none, and it’s clear that every element has been carefully thought out to make life easier for parents and more fun for the little ones. One of the things I absolutely loved was the little details that made a huge difference. For example, they offer flasks for coffee, which is such a thoughtful touch, especially when you have babies and toddlers around who may knock over hot drinks.
It’s these little things that show just how much Jenni’s House understands the needs of parents. They also have baby cutlery, bowls, and bibs, toddler cups and baby beakers readily available. The toilets are stashed with nappies, bags and wipes- they are really here to make things easier for you.
The menu at Jenni’s House is both family-friendly and satisfying, with options that appeal to both adults and little ones. The atmosphere made lunch feel relaxed, allowing us to enjoy a great meal while the kids continued to explore and have fun.
There were toys and books on the table to keep the children entertained and high chairs everywhere! The food was amazing and so reasonable- with everything from jacket potatoes, panini’s and even some incredible specials like salt and pepper chips and fried chicken (YUM!). The children’s options were great too, our little girl enjoyed a platter which came with a sandwich, fruit, crips, houmous and some crudites! I thought the lunch was really reasonably priced too!
As for the playgroup itself, it’s amazing and it’s honestly like nothing I’ve ever been to before. There are often different themes, so each session offers something new and exciting for the kids. The space is beautiful—bright, welcoming, and perfectly designed for little ones to explore and best of all modern and clean.
There’s a separate area for pre-walkers, which I think is a lovely touch, allowing babies to safely enjoy their time while the older children explore the other areas. In the main room, there are different play zones: a home corner, an arts and crafts area, and tuff trays filled with sensory play opportunities. It’s great to see how they’ve designed the space to encourage creativity, imagination, and learning.
At the back, there’s a dedicated room with a climbing frame, cars, and ride-on toys, which the kids loved! Plus, there’s a small outdoor area where they can stretch their legs and enjoy some fresh air though this was closed when we went as it was raining (understandable), I bet it would be lovely in the summer though. It’s the perfect setup for little ones who need a variety of activities to keep them entertained and engaged.
One of our favourite moments was getting together for snack time. It’s always nice to sit down, chat with other mums, and watch the kids share a snack. The playgroup also offers story time and singing, which are wonderful for helping little ones develop language skills and social connections. The children were so engaged in the stories, and it’s lovely to see how everyone is welcomed into the group.
I honestly can’t believe I have only just discovered this place at the end of my second maternity leave. I will however be back and will be recommending this place to everyone I know!
