Hervines Park and Woods (with bluebells!) in Amersham, Bucks

This park, woods and playground is a very popular place for those local to Amersham.

The playground itself is small but could keep my children busy for plenty long enough. It is more for the under 7’s as is mostly small equipment, though has a seriously funky seesaw which is for the older ones.

The playground is gates at one end of the park, closest to Hervines Road, which can be accessed from Amersham High Street. We like to walk into Amersham for an ice cream in Summer.

There is parking available in its own carpark but it can get busy as this is a large football field too. You can park in Amersham and walk up to the park too. (Maps: HP6 5HU)

The highlight of Hervines for us is the trees. The line the edge of the park for running in and out of, hiding behind and climbing on. At the far end you reach the woods with fallen trees, ditches, trenches and dens.

It is possible to go on longer walks through Hervines down to Old Amersham or along to the Rugby Club.

There are plenty of benches and maybe 6 or so football pitches so it can get busy. There are lots of bins too and whenever we have been it seems well kept and is great for picnics.

In Spring the bluebells in the woods are stunning. They are behind wire fences to protect them so it is not ideal for those wanting photos in among the flowers with small children. -For Bluebell locations keep following as I will have a blog post coming out soon with the best Bluebell spots and photo tips. (These will soon be Bluebells!)
