- Synthetic Ice Rink
- Arcades
- Café Diner
There is a lot to do and so we chose a few activities that we hadn’t experienced before: Synthetic Ice Skating, Ninja Golf and Interactive Football.
Synthetic Ice Skating at Flip Out Aylesbury
This was quite memorable, as we hadn’t been on plastic ice before. In the winter we love ice skating on proper ice, which is more slippery than the synthetic stuff.
As part of the experience, we changed into our ice skates, which did have real blades on and ventured onto the ice. For us it was a fun play experience and a good option to introduce beginner ice-skaters, but it did feel quite different to proper ice-skating.
Ninja Golf at Flip Out Aylesbury
We had fun playing the crazy golf equivalent, which is done in the dark with jazzy lighting. This was my little girl’s favourite activity during our time there. They have a good extra element where at each hole number, you can scan your arm band (received on entry) to a QR code to register how many hits it took to get the ball in the hole. We didn’t do this, as my daughter is under 5, so we just had fun practising hitting the ball, using our motor skills and aim to get it across each hole and obstacle. However, this would be a great competitive incentive for older children, teenagers and family groups.
Interactive Football at Flip Out Aylesbury
A great indoor pitch allows you to score goals by hitting the ball onto the light up crosses within each goal. I enjoyed this activity the most as I was able to relax and enjoy playing with my daughter freely and running and seeing her practise kicking and aiming to get the ball in the goals.
It was an engaging and active session for us, with a lot of sensory elements of lighting and textures. My daughter came away feeling excited and energised after exercising in a variety of ways. The staff are very able and hands on to assist you with equipment and advice. In terms of facilities, the toilets are cleaned and checked regularly and there is a lot of seating at the café diner. A great bonus is that the café is next to the soft play, which has two different areas for very young children and more able climbers.
There are a few payment options. It is worth saving up for a bespoke trip. I think for younger children, 1-2 hours is enough, and it would be a great bonus if there was a way just to pay for 1 hr, rather than 2. Tickets are £14, under 1.1m in height are £9 if booked online and walk-ins are £15. For a whole day long at Flip Out, it costs £19-20 per person, £15-16 for under 1.1m in height (The cheaper option if booked online). Check out the website for more details on Adult Only nights, Birthday Parties and the Term-time Afterschool Club and Stay and Play options. Prices as of July 2022
Recommended as an active and sensory experience and very useful for taking a family of mixed ages, as there is the standard option of soft-play, alongside attractive options for older kids and teenagers.
